EVENT TITLE: PRESENTATION OF RESEARCH OF STUDENTS FROM TU DORTMUND ON FLOOD RISK MANAGEMENT AT UP SURP
PLANADES, represented by its Executive Director, Dr. Engr. Tabassam Raza, participated in the presentation of the research of the students from the Technical University of Dortmund (TUDo), under the guidance of Dr. Wolfgang Scholz, regarding the resettlement sites in Metro Manila and its periphery. The research presentation was held on March 6, 2024, at the University of the Philippines School of Urban and Regional Planning (UP SURP), where the study aimed to understand the factors that influence flood risk as a result of exposure, vulnerability, and hazard.
This research initiative aligns with the objectives of the Linking Disaster Governance and Land-Use Planning (LIRLAP) project, a joint effort between TUDo and PLANADES through UP SURP. LIRLAP seeks to enhance risk management strategies by integrating disaster governance with land-use planning practices. Students also attended also attended the LIRLAP -WP3 Gaming Simulation workshop hosted by UP SURP and organized by LIRLAP to develop flood proofing concepts for Kasiglahan Village, a resettlement area in San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal that was conducted on February 23.
Dr. Engr. Raza of PLANADES, including Dean Dina Magnaye of UP SURP, who leads the LIRLAP Philippines Team, and LIRLAP Research Specialists, Prof. David Leonides Yap and Asst. Prof. Carmeli Marie Chaves, participated the session. Their presence provided valuable feedback and insights into the research presented.
