01 December 2025 – PLANADES participated as one of the Institutional partner in the 4th International Symposium on Disaster Resilience and Sustainable Development (DRSD) held at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) conference hall from November 22 to 24, 2025, in Pathum Thani, Thailand

The Event was organized by the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), aims to bring together global experts, practitioners, policymakers, and students from the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
The symposium aimed to foster critical discourse on enhancing development practices to reduce systemic and long-term disaster risks while promoting inclusive and equitable sustainability. It featured a comprehensive range of thematic areas, including:

The DRSD 2025 held for 3 days, the highlights of the PLANADES participation in collaboration with UP SURP is as follows:
Day – 1 (24th November 2025) - The Day 1 started with the welcoming remarks from the chair and convener, Dr. Indrajit Pal, followed by the opening remarks from the AIT President, Prof. Pai-Chi Li. Further, as an International Symposium institutional partner, the opening remarks were also extended by the PLANADES Executive Director, Prof. Dr. Tabassam Raza and UP SURP Dean, Dr. Dina Magnaye.

Prof. Dr. Tabassam Raza, The Executive Director of PLANADES actively participated in the second plenary session on Day 2, specifically during Plenary Panel Discussion 4, entitled “Infrastructure and Built Environment Resilience: Systems Thinking and Innovation for Risk Reduction and Adaptation.”
During this session, the Executive Director contributed to the high-level discourse on advancing systems-based approaches, innovative planning frameworks, and resilience-driven solutions for strengthening infrastructure and the built environment, with a particular emphasis on reducing disaster risk and enhancing adaptive capacity in the face of evolving climate and hazard challenges.

Darang presented her research entitled “Strengthening Business Resilience: Evaluating Flood Risk Continuity and Preparedness Strategies of Shoe Manufacturers in Marikina City” during Session 5-C, which focused on Urban, Infrastructure, and Built Environment Resilience.
Her presentation contributed to the session’s examination of practical and sector-specific resilience strategies, highlighting how small and medium enterprises can enhance business continuity and preparedness in flood-prone urban settings. Each presentation in the session was allotted a fifteen-minute time slot, enabling a focused presentation of findings and recommendations.
